Microsoft Office 2000
A whole lot of users today go for Microsoft Office. And for all those users Office 2000 is a very good upgrade. Unlike earlier version the installation is very easy but may take up space upto 400 MB. A new function, Windows Install, can reduce the pain somewhat by permitting the installation of a minimal set of Office functions and calling for programs from the CD as needed. But working form CD would not be very wise choice. What more the new version comes with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 free. And the new Outlook 2000 is a good feature. The users of earlier versions can feel at home coming to the interface as it even better which requires no extra efforts. Drop down lists look similar, but if you leave the mouse on a list for a few seconds after clicking, the expanded list now displays the commands for the new Web integration functions.
Upward/downward compatibility from back level versions works well and you can store older version documents into latest one or new documents as iwith older version format thus can work on old version even now. The Save As includes several Wordperfect and Macintosh formats which is simply great.
This version is tightly integrated into the Internet. Now HTML is added as a native file format with existing ones. MS Word is now the authorized web page editor. Excel imports data from data files and insert them into existing Web pages. You can create Web Pages from contacts files moreover now scheduling and appointment can be used as a group activity in an intranet thus ensuring better official communications.
Access enables the SOHO businessperson to create tables and data files that facilitate the kind of ad hoc query that even the smallest business finds essential. Access has all the advantages of a first rate 4GL language. As with the other functions of Office 2000, Access and Business Tools are tightly integrated into the Web.
Microsoft Office 2000 Professional Edition is not mere enhancement to earlier versions but gives really useful web features to make it all the more important to the user.
